Dr. Lasher is in solo practice in Sarasota, Florida. She specializes in pain management and medical and surgical hypnosis. In addition to preparing people for successful surgery she works with people who choose to participate in their healing. Dr. Lasher was an attending psychologist and Adjunct Professor at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, a large teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center in Miami, Florida. Her service was Adult Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Lasher has developed specialties in acute and chronic pain management, hypnosis for pain management and hypnosis prior to, during and after surgery. Findings, through both research performed on the orthopaedic hand service and by observation indicates that patients receiving hypnosis for surgery have reduced post operative swelling, fewer complications, increased healing and minimal post operative pain. This work has lead to media interest. It was covered by The Miami Herald in April, 1997 (Knight Ridder Syndication) an independent TV concern that aired it nationally, CBS International, Fox Cable (two stories), Univision (two stories) broadcasting to Central and South America and NBC International. More recently, United Press International printed a national story followed by another independent TV concern. Outside her work in the medical setting, Dr. Lasher has taught How to Access Your Healing Potential Through Hypnosis to numerous groups. It encompasses information they need to know about their physiology that embraces integration of eastern and western traditions and by current research that validates this. She shows them how mere unintentional, casual thought can create real change in their body. She then takes them through a hypnosis session where they can learn how to heighten this experience and actually create meaningful change. |
